Monroe was raised in White Plains, New York, and came to Boston to attend Northeastern University where he earned a bachelor's degree in Psychology. Later he was awarded a Master's degree in Community Health Administration from Hunter College. He had worked as an administrator and clinician in the health and human service sector for twenty years before switching to real estate. His first exposure to real estate was in the 1980s when he bought his first home and he has been "hooked" ever since. As a long-time resident of Jamaica Plain, he was initially drawn to this local as were so many others because of its natural beauty, close proximity to downtown Boston, wonderful sense of community, and diversity. He has taken leadership positions at the First Church in Jamaica Plain and at Habitat for Humanity-Boston where he received the Golden Hammer Award for his volunteer work creating affordable housing. Additionally, he enjoys educating first-time buyers and has taught the Realtors® module for the City of Boston, first-time buyer's classes. Being an environmentalist, he has earned the National Association of Realtors® Green designation enabling him to educate clients about greening the environment. He is a member of the Massachusetts Association of Realtors®' Sustainability Task Force and the Jamaica Plain Professional Business Association’s Green Committee. Whether buying or selling a home Monroe is a very experienced Realtor® with extensive knowledge of the Jamaica Plain real estate market and is eager to help you navigate today's difficult and ever-changing real estate environment.
