Claudia is a former international banker and an accomplished lawyer. She was born in Europe and grew up in Michigan before moving to the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area over 30 years ago. Claudia has studied and worked internationally, speaks English, French, Italian, and Croatian, and has basic knowledge of German, Czech, and Spanish. Claudia's professional background includes nearly 20 years of corporate legal experience and four years of international banking experience. Her legal experience includes private corporate and securities practices with elite, global law firms, where she served as Associate General Counsel and as a chief legal officer for three high-tech companies.
Her extensive corporate transactional experience includes domestic and international contracts, capital transactions, and merger and acquisition transactions, with deal values of up to 10 billion dollars. Before her legal career, Claudia served as an International Banking Officer and European Area Manager for a prominent Washington, D.C. bank where her responsibilities included international credit underwriting, international correspondent banking relationships, management of a sovereign debt portfolio, and Eastern European privatization and investment projects. Claudia holds a Juris Doctor degree from the University of Virginia School of Law, a Master of Arts degree in International Economics and International Relations from the Johns Hopkins University School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS), a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics from the University of Michigan, as well as overseas studies at the Université de Droit, d'Économie et des Sciences d'Aix-Marseille, Aix-en-Provence, France; the Humboldt University, Belin, Germany; the Jagiellonian University, Krakow, Poland; and the Johns Hopkins SAIS Bologna Center, Bologna, Italy.

She is organized and business-minded, provides great attention to detail, and is a skilled listener and negotiator. Claudia lives in Oakton, Virginia with her husband, two teenage sons, and their Cavalier King Charles Spaniel.
